Alan Seymour - Musical Director

Alan took over as musical director from Josh Hughes in December 2017 having previously conducted at Sale and Wetherby Silver. He also conducted several bands in his native north east including: Murton, Dunston, Spennymoor, Hetton Silver and Silksworth Colliery. After a spell as MD with the Bradford Metropolitan Concert Band he moved to Sale Brass. Here the band had several podium finishes including being crowned Butlins Mineworkers champions, a 3rd place at Rochdale and runners up at the Buxton contest.

As a player he most recently played Eb bass for Easington Colliery Band in the championship section but has played for most bands in the north east including: Ryhope, Murton, Silksworth, Hetton, Riverside Concert and Durham Miners. Originally a solo euphonium player Alan had spells on trombone and percussion and latterly bass and he will still help out bands when conducting duties allow. He is a founder member of Houghton Youth Band as well as the Burma Band of the 7LI. He has also played for Yorkshire Co-op in Yorkshire as well as Hade Edge and Haslingden and Helmshore in Lancashire.

He is married to trombone player Victoria and has one son, Matthew. Alan works as an IT Trainer for Community Integrated Care.
